What has been going on in The Grimes Girls life.

Well the show Caileigh, Noah, and I had went very well.  We had fun and met a lot of sweet women. :)

I have not had much of a chance to post because we are now only 3 days out from Kat's wedding. Yup, thats right. In case you missed that post Kat is getting married.  NO WORRIES though.  We will continue to play...........as The Grimes Girls. ;)

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.  Let's not forget the reason for the season.  Christ coming to earth, born of a virgin, so that as a man He could shed is blood for our salvation.  *John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.*  God's love is great. Not only at Christmas but all the time.  Except the gift of eternal life He offers you and have a new year unlike any other!! :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Upcoming Show

Just thought I would hop on the computer and let you know that I (Nat) will be doing a show on Wednesday without Kat. Scary, I know.lol  I am pulling in some friends. Noah Wullenweber, who used to play banjo for Micheal Cleveland, and Caileigh Ganahl who is a harpist.  We found out yesterday while practicing that Caileigh and I can blend our voices well too! That was exciting and we can't wait to perform what we have been working on. Unfortunately this is a private for a church in our area.  I will let you know how it went though and maybe even post some pictures. :) Thanks for reading!

Hello!

Well we got back safe and sound from Kansas. :) We had a lovely thanksgiving and got to see lots of people. We have a brand new cousin who was 15 days old and it was great getting to meet him and hold him. :) We saw lots of family and ate lots of food............I am still trying to figure out how I ate so much! lol

When it comes to Thanksgiving food though, my weakness is the dessert.  One of my cousins made these brownie/chocolate and peanut butter covered rice crispies.  The rice crispies were covered in chocolate and peanut butter and spread on top of brownies. OH MY WORD!!!! It was like heaven in your mouth! lol  I think I ate like six of them! It was the BEST thing ever. lol So needless to say by the end of the day I was a very full warm sleepy ball.lol I hope everyone else also had a great Thanksgiving! :)

Funny Story

While we were in Michigan we saw something, that as Hoosiers, we had never seen before.  As we were leaving to come home, we saw a black squirrel..............something quite new to us. We had never seen something like this before.  It was a little different.  Apparently, they are very common there.  We were told it is part of their seasonal coat change........I think they eventually end up red.  Just thought I would tell you that..........in case like us, you didn't know there were black squirrels. :) haha

(see picture of the black squirrel to your left. :) )

Unpacking Time!

We returned safely from Michigan tonight. :) We had such a fun time.  The couple we stayed with were so hospitable and our show went quite well.  It was so good to catch up with some old friends and make some new ones.  This was our first time to Michigan and although we didn't get much time for sight seeing what we saw of Michigan was very pretty. :)

We will be heading out for Kansas on Wednesday. Please pray for good weather and safe travels.  We do not have any official shows scheduled but we will probably end up playing several times while we are there.

I hope you all have a great thanksgiving! :)

Michigan!

Once again I apologize for not keeping up with the blog better.  We have been pretty slow lately with gigs so there hasn't been lots to update you on.  However, Friday we will be heading to Michigan to perform.  We are both very excited to play there because we have never been to Michigan or performed there yet.  We hear it will be cold, but I am sure we will have lots of fun!

We are in Michigan until Sunday.  Then we turn around and leave on Wednesday for Kansas. We will be spending Thanksgiving with family there and will probably be playing for family gatherings as well as for their churches maybe.  We look forward to a fun relaxing time.

For those of you who are curious. Wedding plans are going well and on schedule! :) Our house is getting very excited for the wedding in December.  Needless to say Kat is very excited too. :)

Thanks for reading and be sure to pop back over after thanksgiving.  I will be telling you about a solo show I will be doing without Kat and with some other friends.  Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!!

Gig Tonight

We are very excited about the show we have tonight. It is for veterans of WW2.  I think this is the third year we have done this, and both Kat and I love serving out veterans in this way.  Our grandpa was a WW2 veteran and we know how much he appreciates when people remember him, so this is our way of saying thank you to ALL the men and women who have served and are serving our country now.  We will be playing tonight at 7pm.  This is a private event, but we can still use your support and prayers for this show.  Thank you again to all our service men and women.  You are not overlooked or forgotten!

This Past weekend...........

Well, once again I let some shows get away from me and I didn't have time to blog BEFORE they happened.  Both went great though.  We had one Saturday night and one Sunday night.  They were both successful and Kat and I had a blast at both.  One was back in our home town of Hope, IN.  It was great to be back home and to see familiar old faces again! The other show was at a church in Indy.  This was a brand new venue for us so no one there had ever heard us............and that always makes for a fun show! :) :) Hopefully you all enjoyed us as much as we enjoyed playing for you! Thanks for your support! It is overwhelming!

Update!

I have been very busy lately with the fair and Junior Miss.  Finally things have slowed down enough for me to sit down here and right an update! lol The Hendricks County Fair went great and I had a blast being second runner-up.  :)  :) The new Avon's Junior Miss, Kelsie McGee is very sweet and I am very proud of her and wish her lots of luck at Indiana's Junior Miss in February.

We have a show coming up next Wednesday the 18th at the Indiana State Fair.  We will be there all day long at the Pioneer Village.  We will be playing mostly out on the porch but will probably also be wandering around the village and playing some.  We will be in the Farmer's Day Parade that morning and the big parade all around the fair grounds that evening.  We hope to see all of you out there.

Busy Times

Hello Again!
Once again this last week has been a huge whirlwind!! I competed a couple weeks ago in the Hendricks County 4-H Queen Contest and ended up winning 2nd Runner-Up.  Needless to say when our fair started on the 17th my days were packed to the max!  The fair went great. It was very hot and I got soaked a few days, but overall it was a good year.  I had a blast being on the court!

Just as a precursor.......I have some VERY exciting news about Kat so be sure to read the next post! :) Thanks for reading!

Whoo! We Survived!

Well we survived this crazy whirlwind of a weekend of shows! :)  Friday and Sunday nights out at Bartholomew County went great.  We loved seeing old faces and meeting new fans.  Saturday at White River State Park went great as well.  It was a gorgeous setting with the river behind us.  It was a bit hot, but we managed. :)  Meeting Tom Chapin was very neat.  Having never heard him before it was great to stay after our set and listen and watch his whole set.  He did very well and we really like some of his cute songs. :)

We are able to take a break from gigs for a couple weeks, but will be plenty busy meanwhile.  The Hendricks County Fair starts this coming Saturday July 17th and Nat will be participating in the Fair Queen Contest this Wednesday the 14th.  We would love to see you all out having fun at the fair.  Both of us will be milling around probably everyday, so come find us. :)  Thanks for all your support at the shows this past weekend!

Three Shows This Weekend!!! :)

Show #1 : We have a show tomorrow night in Bartholomew County.  We will be playing at the David Boll Theatre at the 4-H Fairgrounds at 7pm.  We hope to see you all there. Come out and enjoy some good music and great fair food. :) We can't wait to see you all there! ;)

Show #2:  We are going to be the opening act for Tom Chapin July 10th (this Saturday) at 6pm downtown Indianapolis at the White River State Park.  We will be playing in the outdoor amphitheater so bring your family and friends and come out for a good time.  Bring lawn chairs and blankets and even a picnic supper even though I believe there will be food vendors around. :)

Show #3:  We will once again be at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds, but this time at the Farm Bureau building.  We will be playing with some old friends in the Possom Glory Bluegrass Band.  The band that started my sister and I out into the world of bluegrass. :) We will be playing at 7pm..........i think. It might be 6pm. I will double check and let you guys know.:)

We hope that you will be able to come to at least one if not all of the shows this weekend. We can't wait to play in our hometown again and to see all the old faces. :)  We are also very excited about opening for Tom Chapin who has been honored with several Grammy Awards! :)

Thanks for your support!

Long Time No Talk

Howdy!
So sorry it has been so long since we have posted but with Nat graduating and all, it has been very busy here.  Nat is excited to be able to officially say that she is no longer in High School!! :)

We have had several gigs since the last time we posted all of which were very enjoyable and successful.  The one we want to talk about now, though, is the show we have coming up this Saturday, July 3rd.  It is a benefit concert held at Lean On Lodge.  We are very excited about it because we do a few benefits each year and this is a brand new one for us.  This specific benefit is targeted towards people who have struggled or are struggling with cancer.

Music starts at 5pm. There will be several groups playing and we will be one of them.  For more info visit their website at www.leanonlodge.com .  Hope to see you all there..........and if you can't make it to this gig stay tuned for another chance to see us soon. At a really cool venue too!! :)

Thanks for reading and feel free to post any time! :)

It's Fixed

Well, I got my violin back.  It is just as good as new and still sounds great.  I realized that we have some very attuned fans when I went to a couple of shows we had scheduled and several of them came up to me and asked if I had a different violin BEFORE we mentioned it onstage!!  I love you guys though.  After all the fans are what make us who we are.  Thank you guys for all your amazing support and prayers through this crazy experience.  Keep the e-mails coming! :)

College Audition

My audition Monday went well.  I had a blast getting to know the people at DePauw and really like the campus.  I will find out in a couple weeks whether or not I have been accepted.  Thanks for all your prayers concerning my violin.  I am waiting to get a call to let me know when I can go pick it up. I will update you on it when I find out more.
Nat

Please Pray

Well, all I can say right now is I want to throw up.

Last night I was practicing my violin for my college audition (which I leave for tomorrow afternoon) and I turned around to check the time and hit my violin on the office chair.  The whole neck of my violin broke off in my hand..........  Needless to say, I was in tears and didn't know what to do.  God sure has a way of breaking you and forcing you to truly depend on Him.

I was able to take my violin to Bloominton today and my violin guy said he could fix it, but not in under a week. My audition is Monday......... he was able to loan me a very nice one to use tomorrow and Monday, but it is not going to be easy.  I played on it today and even though it is very nice it isn't mine and I am having a hard time getting used to it.

I have made up my mind to simply trust God to help me through my audition and what happens happens.  My favorite poem is Footprints in the Sand.........one of the lines in it says "it was then that I carried you....." I had a bracelet on at the time my violin broke that has those words on it.........the only thing I can say right now is that it is now that He carries me..........  Please pray for me.

At a loss for what to say or think,

Crazy Day

Do you ever have those days where everything goes wrong?  Today seemed like one of those.  First this morning my contacts WOULD NOT go in.  Then I got to school and found out I have a boatload of homework due Monday.  THEN after morning class mom called me and said the battery on the van died.......she accidentally left the trunk open.  Which meant I had to wait for a ride home from a friend. Finally I get home and jump our van with our friends car.  We take the van to an auto store and they test the battery..........bad............so we had to buy a new one.  The guy put it in and now the van is fine.  So now it is 4pm and nothing weird has happened for a little while............hopefully the rest of the day will be normal.  Well, I have to scoot and go practice for my college audition on Sunday and Monday.  Wish me luck!! :)  better yet pray for me. :)  Talk to you all later!

Indiana Roof Ballroom

We did a show a couple of weeks ago that was one of the prettiest venues we have ever played.  Yep you guessed it. (if you didn't already figure it out by the title)  We were able to play at The Indiana Roof Ballroom for the Indiana State Poultry Associations annual legislative banquet.  We were able to meet State and Federal legislatures, and also got to know several State Poultry Association members.   This was a very neat gig for us. Because of our connections with poultry through 4-H  it was right up our alley.  Any of you who have been to the Ballroom know what I mean when I say it is breathtaking.  It is a very beautiful venue, and we were so honored to be able to play there.  The evening went great and the spring duck rolls were exquisite!!! :)

Hello again

So I realize it has been a very long time since we have posted.  Needless to say, it has been very hectic around here.  The next few posts will update you on where we have been and what we have been doing, and where we will be and what we will be doing.  I hope you all had a great holiday season, we sure did!!  Please feel free to tell us how you have been either from our blog or through our website at www.grimesgirls.com .  Read on!
