So, we finally got with the program and started a blog! For those of you who don't know us, visit our website http://www.grimesgirls.com/ . Basically, we love playing music! We specialize in bluegrass, celtic and classical. Hopefully this blog will help keep you up to speed on what is going on in our lives. I'll catch you up on what's happening lately.
We just got back from one of the most exciting trips that we've ever been on! To the IBMA's (International Bluegrass Music Association) in Nashville, TN. Talk about some great musicians!! Just so you know, this is Kat talking, well er typing :) We met and jammed with this awesome band from Australia, three sisters from Texas and an amazing French fiddler who played with a band from England (he wore a beret and greeted us by kissing our hands every time we met!) Every night we stayed up til the wee hours of the morning jamming and we learned so much.
We went to the IBMA awards show and got to see our favorite band, Dailey and Vincent, win three awards, one of them being Entertainer of the Year! Did you know that Steve Martin plays the banjo? Well, you probably did, but I'm behind the times and just found out. We got to see him play, too! Overall, it was a fabulous time and we really can't wait until next year. Well, I think I will wait until next time to tell ya'll about our gig in Pennsylvania! Oh, and come see us at our two gigs this weekend.
